Amelia R. Pelesky, 91, of Salina passed away on February, 19, 2013 at Salina Regional Health Center.
She was born on a farm south of Cuba, KS on April 10, 1921, the daughter of James and Mary (Houdek) Kauer. She was the youngest of 9 children.
On September 28, 1942, she was united in marriage to William C. (Bill) Pelesky. After Bill’s return from World War II, in 1945, they farmed in the Narka, KS area until moving to Belleville, KS in 1976, and later Salina in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband William; son, Richard; grandson Timmy; her parents; and her 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Amelia is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ray) Boyer of Belleville, KS; son, Tom (Linda) Pelesky of Salina, KS; grandsons, Michael (Heidi) Boyer of Concordia, KS and Brian (Cheri) Boyer of Salina, KS; Granddaughters, Jenny Sjolander of Lawton, OK and Kristy (Ryan) Panke of O’Fallon, MO; great grandchildren, Skye Nurko and Cash Morehead of O’Fallon, MO and Connor and Braydon Boyer of Salina, KS; step grandchildren, David Hall, Laura Warhurst, Jennifer Sims, Sarah Benfer and Tiffany Gruber; 8 step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Amelia will be fondly remembered for her love of ballroom dancing and cooking, especially her prize winning pies.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 22 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, KS. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Narka, KS. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Salina Animal Shelter or the Republic County Community Foundation.
