Alice Wiruth

Alice May Wiruth was born Alice May Benyshek to Joseph G. and Mary (Kopsa) Benyshek on July 30, 1927 at Concordia, KS and passed away April 29, 2012 at the Republic County Hospital Long Term Care at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 30 days. Alice attended Beebe school grades 1-8, and graduated from Cuba High School with the class of 1945. She then went on to K-State Manhattan and earned a certificate to teach school. She taught at Hayworth and Eureka schools. On July 6, 1946 she married Frank C. Wiruth Jr. and to this union 3 children were born, Cynthia, Daniel, and Samuel. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996. Frank preceded her in death in 1997. Alice worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 26 years, retiring in 1981. She then went on to work for USD 455 Cuba Schools. Alice enjoyed her TOPS Club a member for 30 years, VW Club, Presbyterian Church for 50 years, singing in the choir, Senior Citizens, Czech Club, The Czech Singers, PATH Exercise group, and dancing to Big Band music. Alice enjoyed her last years with her best friend Marion Lesovsky. They liked dancing to Big Band music, K-State games, and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to play cards and "shoot the moon." But most of all she enjoyed her and Marion's grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending as many sporting events as they could. Alice is survived by her children: Cindy and Jim Hamilton of Salina, Dan and Linda Wiruth of Newton, and Sam and Lora Wiruth of Cuba; sisters, Marvel Skucius of Salina and Don and JoAnne Baxa of Cuba. Her grandchildren: Carmen and Brandon Fiedler of Newton, Krista and Rob Long of Salina, Karla and Jerry Breeden Jr. of Salina, Blake Wiruth and Tabitha Tabb of Manhattan and Erin and Erik Pavlovich of Tonganoxie. Her great-grandchildren: Katie Fiedler and George Cassanova, Kyle Fiedler, Callie Peters, Cade Peters, Wyatt Breeden, Cooper Long, Cason Long, Brooke Myers, and Madeline Alice Pavlovich; several nieces and nephews and a host of good friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Cuba Presbyterian Church with Pastor Harvey Farnsworth officiating. Burial was in Kopsa Cemetery. Memorials should be made to the family's choice. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
