Arvid Bergstrom

Arvid Lee Bergstrom, the son of Arvid M. & Ethel (Nolan) Bergstrom, was born on December 1, 1929, on the family farm, near Brantford, Kansas.

Arvid graduated from Courtland High School, class of 1947. He then married Rosella Delores Anderson on May 1, 1949, in Courtland.

Arvid enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and served his country from November 1951 – October 1955. Following his honorable discharge, Arvid enlisted in the Air Force Reserves until October 1960.

He was a lifelong farmer and stockman in the Agenda area.

Arvid passed away on November 18, 2020, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 17 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosella in 2009, and infant daughter Deborah.

He will be forever remembered by his son, Lester Bergstrom and his wife Pat of Cuba, daughter Roseanne McCann and her husband Bob of Overbrook, Kansas, daughter Christine Gepner and her husband Bob of Bonner Springs, Kansas. Arvid is also survived by his grandchildren, Jerrod, Rhonda, Gretchen, Teralee, Joseph, Mark, David, Ethan, Alex and Spencer, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Rosco and her husband Harvey, his brother, Marvin, sister Alice Adee and her husband Richard, sister Edna Olson and her husband Jim, sister Sandy Duey and her husband Bob, and sister Janice Parr.

Arvid will lie in state at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home for public viewing on Monday, November 23rd, 2020, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 24th, 2020, at 2:00 pm, at the Brantford Covenant Church Cemetery, rural Clyde, Kansas.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Honor Detail from McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita.

Memorials are requested to the Brantford Covenant Church or The Wounded Warrior Project, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Persons attending the graveside services are requested to wear masks or facial coverings, and to practice social distancing. Family and friends unable to attend the services are encouraged to express their condolences and share their memories on Arvid’s Tribute Wall on his obituary page, on the funeral home website.
