Barbara L. Arbuthnot, 81, of Mahaska, Kansas, died Friday, August 21, 2026, at BryanLGH East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was born on December 9th, 1944, in Denver, Colorado, to Keith and Warrean Wilkinson. Barbara spent her first 10 years in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with her three sisters. Upon moving back to Kansas at the age of 10, she attended public school in Agenda, Kansas, graduating from Agenda High School in 1962.
She married Rod Arbuthnot on August 12th, 1962, at Haddam Methodist Church. To this union of marriage, a son Robert Eugene Arbuthnot was born. The two attended Kansas State University until graduation where she earned a Bachelor in Elementary Education degree.
Barbara taught grade school at Washington public school, Washington, Kansas, through the spring of 1978, when she decided to put all her efforts and energy into ranching and farming with her husband. Upon doing so Barbara found her love, other than her family, of taking care of cattle and crops with her family. She was an avid wild game enthusiast along with the day-to-day of agriculture.
She was preceded by in death by her parents, and two sisters Nancy Dolezal and Karen Trecek. Upon passing, her only other sister Kay Raskoff has passed away. Barbara is survived by loving husband Rod Arbuthnot and son Rob Arbuthnot (Kelli) at the ranch.
Following her stated wishes, a private family service and inurnment has taken place under the direction of Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
