Cindy Lou Battreall, 58, of Courtland, Kansas, passed away peacefully at Republic County Hospital in Belleville on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Cindy was born to Gordon and Karen McGill (Duncan) on March 1, 1967, in Golden, Colorado. She graduated from Falls City High School in Falls City, Nebraska, in 1986. Cindy was a longtime employee of Nurse’s Incorporated, holding various job titles throughout her career. She began working for Nurse’s Incorporated in 2003 as a CNA/CMA and later transitioned into the role of office manager, where she remained until her retirement in 2023. She truly was the walking encyclopedia of Nurse’s Incorporated.
Cindy enjoyed watching crime and game shows, and her drink of choice was, of course, Dr. Pepper. She was united in marriage to Gene Thomas on March 14, 2014.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Gene Thomas of Courtland, Kansas; her daughter, Betsy Plunkett and husband Brady of Seattle, Washington; her son, Zachary Battreall and wife Kelly of Jacksonville, Florida; her step-daughter, Ashleigh Thomas and husband Jonathan Wright of Scandia, Kansas; her step-son, Cole Thomas of Concordia, Kansas; her grandchildren, Brielle Plunkett, Brooke Plunkett, and Jackson Battreall; her sister, Candy Simmonds and husband Bobby Joe of Craig, Missouri; her brother, Matthew McGill and wife Elysia of Falls City, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
Cindy was preceded in death by her first husband, Miles Battreall; her parents, Gordon and Karen McGill; and her twin brother, Mark McGill.
A celebration of Cindy’s life will take place on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Courtland Covenant Church, located at 505 Republic Street in Courtland, Kansas, and will be officiated by Pastor Randy Paugh. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow the celebration of life.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with medical and funeral expenses, and may be mailed to Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, PO Box 566, Belleville, Kansas, 66935.
