Daniel Duane Jensen, age 65, died on September 11, 2026, at his home in Courtland, Kansas. Dan was born on April 2, 1961, in Belleville, Kansas, to Carl Jensen and JoVena (Sidders) Jensen. After his father’s death, his mother remarried Jackie Anderson, who was the dad “Danny” knew and loved. Dan was raised in Concordia, Kansas, by his Aunt, Sharon Jensen.

Dan married Sondra Moore in 1982, and their 11-year marriage brought four children; Joy, Kristy, JoAnna, and Jackie.

For Dan’s entire life, he loved working on anything with an engine. After starting his family, he moved to Formoso, where he co-owned Jackie’s Station with his dad. He later moved to Courtland, where he spent the majority of his working life as “Dan Dan the City Man”. He was very proud of the town and all of the people in it. He enjoyed coffee at Jensen’s, having a beer at Pinky’s, and helping his neighbors any way he could.

Over 10 years ago, Dan started a Facebook group where people with depression and anxiety can be free with their thoughts, emotions, and feelings. The group has grown to over 520 members, and Dan was always there to talk to any one of them when they needed a friend.

Dan was a member of the Masons Lodge of Belleville #129 A.F. & A.M. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Courtland, and served as assistant chief for a time.

Dan loved his cats Lyra, Samantha, and Mittens dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother JoVena Anderson, aunt Sharon Jensen, and sister Dinina Uglow.

Dan is survived by his children Joy Pruitt (Matthew) of Courtland, KS, Kristy Jensen of Wichita, KS, JoAnna Bowers (Daniel) of Belleville, KS, and Jackie Jensen of Smith Center, KS; grandchildren Annabelle Hemenway, Lillian Pruitt, Abigail Pruitt, Johnathan Pruitt, Skylar Mendenhall, Lennon Ninemire, Owen Weatherhead, Caleb Weatherhead, Ryan Weatherhead, Nora Bowers, and Jace Bowers; great grandchildren Marlie Christy-Clough and Colton Christy-Clough; father Jackie Anderson; sister Darceil Birkle-Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Balch Cemetery, located north of Formoso, Kansas. The service will be conducted by Belleville Lodge #129 A.F. & A.M. In honor of Daniel's life, the family invites you to dress casual and come as you are comfortable. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Courtland City Hall to share memories and gather in community.
