Donna grew up in the Sand Hills of Nebraska, moving to Haddam, Kansas in 1949 and graduated from Haddam High School in 1952. To this union three children were born: daughter Cheryl, and son Bruce being born in St. Paul, then son Jerry being born in Kansas, five days after the family moved to Haddam in February, 1963.
