Gloria Ramona (Lawson) Kolman was born on April 25, 1929, near Agenda, the daughter of Robert & Blanche (Pugh) Lawson. She grew up on the family farm, and attended school in Agenda, where she graduated with the class of 1946. Following high school, she attended Kansas State University, where she obtained her teaching certificate. She went on to teach in country schools until 1954.
She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Kolman on May 23, 1953, in Lincoln, Kansas, and to this union of 58 years, three children were born, Marty, Mark, and Kimberly.
Gloria worked as a cook for the Cuba / Hillcrest schools starting in 1970, until her retirement in 1996. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her sister Bobby, going on casino bus trips with Don, enjoying their grandchildren, and working with Jackie Jeardoe at JJ’s Bakery in Cuba. She later returned to work as a substitute cook at the Hillcrest School until 2001.
She was a member of the Cuba VW Club, and enjoyed traveling, casino trips, playing bingo, crocheting, reading, and word puzzles. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family, and being a part of the Cuba community.
Gloria passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 96 years and one day.
She is preceded in death by her parents, step mother Louise Lawson, her husband Donald in 2011, brother James Lawson, and sister Barbara Reynolds.
Her memories will be forever cherished by her children, Marty Kolman of Agenda, Mark Kolman of Cuba, and Kimberly Kolman of Cuba; her grandchildren Krystal Richard and her husband Casey, and their children Boone and Case; Kade Kolman and his wife Sarah, and their children Broden, Kaydre, and Sawyer; Kara Morehead and her husband Rusty, and their children Gus, Clancy, and Lilibeth; Sarah Lehman and her husband Nick, and their children McKennon, Briscoe, Pistol, and Granger; Tyler Kolman and his wife Britta, and their children Ainsley, Memphis, Damon, and Kelan; nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:00 am, at the Presbyterian Church in Cuba. Burial will follow at National Bohemian Cemetery District #13, rural Cuba.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, from 1pm – 7pm, with the family greeting friends from 5pm – 7pm, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville.
Memorials are requested to the Cuba VW Club, the Cuba Presbyterian Church, or Park Villa Nursing Home, and may be sent to Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, PO Box 566, Belleville, Kansas, 66935.
