Helen Marjorie Lesher Rhine was born December 9, 1923 at Haddam, Kansas, the daughter of William and Agnes (Lyons) Lesher. She departed her earthly life on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 while a resident of the Belleville Health Care Center in Belleville, Kansas at the age of 91 years. Helen graduated from Haddam High School with the Class of 1942. On June 21, 1944 she was united in marriage Dale Rhine and to this union was born four children: Natalie, Sheila, Timothy, and Lori. Dale and Helen farmed east of Haddam until his untimely death on May 14, 1980. Helen was an excellent cook and cooked for the Haddam school district for many years. To this day she is still remembered for the wonderful meals she provided for her family and the many children through the school years. Helen was an artist, doing landscape paintings and creating her ceramic works of art. She had her own kiln and taught ceramic classes. Besides her husband Dale, Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dorothy Boswell. She will be forever remembered by her children Natalie and husband Edwin Livingston, Mahaska, Kansas, Sheila and husband Jack Cornett, Scandia, Kansas, Timothy Rhine and wife Deborah, Mahaska, Kansas, and Lori and husband James Caspers, Great Bend, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren: Brian and Traci Livingston and children Paige and Layne; Bruce & Trudy Livingston and children Connor, Bryn, Eliana and Lucas; Bradley & Lisa Livingston and children Nicholas and Nathaniel; Stephanie & Jason Gillig and children Zachary, Samantha and Alexander; Andrew Rhine; Lesley & Matt Bauer and children Adalyn; Jeremy Mittel; Jessica & David Shippert and children Ella, Anna and Alia; Gabriel Mittel; Jacob Mittel; Ethan Mittel; Josiah Caspers and Jennavieve Caspers; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 7, 2015 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas. She was laid to rest beside her husband Dale in the Haddam City Cemetery. Memorials are to the family’s choice to be designated at a later time. These arrangements were under the direction of Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home.
