Joan Brzon passed away on March 21, 2024, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 10 days.
She was born on February 11, 1941, in Enterprise, Alabama, to Braxton and Mildred (Johnson) Adkison. Joan grew up in Enterprise, where she graduated from high school in 1959. Following high school, she worked at National Security Insurance, where she learned the accounting skills that she carried into her work at the sale barn in Belleville and then to the family farm.
She met Kenneth Brzon while he was stationed at Ft. Rucker in Alabama, and on August 7, 1965, in Goodman, Alabama they were united in marriage. After his discharge from the Army they returned to Belleville and then added two sons, Chris and Jonathan to their family. In 1975 they built their current home south of Belleville.
She loved her family fiercely and showed her love through cooking and baking everyone’s favorites. She had a green thumb and especially loved trees. She was proud of her Alabama heritage and returned for visits at least once a year.
Joan was a member of the Red Hats club, the Belleville Welcome Club, and was a volunteer for the Republic Co. Election Board.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Braxton and Mildred; her brothers, Joel Adkison and Donnie Adkison; brothers-in-law Winston Bowersox and Loren Brzon; and sisters-in-law Twila (Brzon) Bowersox, Narvene Brzon, and Una Brzon.
