John William Woodruff was born on January 24, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John William and Eunice Mae (Tucker) Woodruff. He passed away at his home in Belleville on August 11, 2022, at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 18 days.
John graduated from El Dorado (Missouri) High School in 1950, and joined the Army 1952. He was honorably discharged in 1954, and relocated to Belleville, Kansas, where he worked for the City of Belleville in the power plant, where he retired as the plant superintendent.
John was united in marriage to Betty Francis, and to this union one daughter was born, Betty Lynn. John was later remarried to Dorothy Jeanette Carlton on June 17, 1982.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sena Lou Watkins and her husband Raymond, daughter Betty Lynn Rott. He is survived by his wife Jeanette, grandchildren, Monica Meyerhoff (Mark), Sarah Jones (Brian), Elizabeth Spellman (Scot), Andrea Jurgensmeyer (Bryan), son-in-law Robert Rott, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, with Pastor Craig Roberts officiating. Visitation with family greeting friends will be one hour prior to the services, at the funeral home.
Friends may sign John’s book on Friday, August 26, from 9am – 5pm, at the funeral home.
A private, family inurnment will occur at a later date, at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, Fort Riley, Kansas.
Memorials are requested to the Golden Bell Haven, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
