June Almira Frerichs, 95, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia, Kansas. She was born October 17, 1915 on a farm near Republic, Kansas the daughter of Zae T. and Cecelia (DeNoyer) Powers. June graduated from Republic High School with the Class of 1934. She taught school in a one room school house near Formoso. June moved to California in 1937 and worked as a live in housekeeper in Sacramento. On November 3, 1939 she married Howard P. Alspaugh in Carson City, Nevada. Together they raised a daughter Karen and son Delbert. Howard died in 1971. June later married Herman Frerichs and he too passed away in 1990. June came to live in the Courtland community to be close to Karen. June was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Howard and Herman; sisters Fern (Frank) Ehright, Hazel (Robert) Humiston, Pauline (Boyd) Imler, and Ella May (Charles) McLaughlin; brother Dale (Elva Mae) Powers; and son-in-law Melvin Woodford. She will be forever remembered by children Karen Woodford of Courtland, Kansas and Delbert Powers and wife Susan of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren Roger Woodford and wife Gina, Brian Woodford and wife Becky all of Concordia, Kansas, and Kimberly Alspaugh of Boulder, Colorado; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Courtland Covenant Church, Courtland, Kansas with Pastors Chuck Peters and Jake Engelbert officiating. Burial was in Lake Cemetery rural Republic, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the church. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
