Kay passed from this earth to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Beloit Hospital with her husband by her side. Kay Whitley Zimmer was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on October 21, 1943 to Willie and Edna (Kackley) Whitley. She moved back to Courtland, Kansas with her mother and siblings in 1945. Kay attended schools at Formoso and Courtland graduating from Courtland High School in 1961. She worked at First National Bank in Concordia, Kansas for a few years. She married Roger Zimmer on February 14, 1994 and she loved the farm and helping Roger. Kay was an active member in the Jewell United Methodist Church and belonged to several organizations and clubs, always willing to volunteer her time and talents. She had many talents; crafts, art, pheasant feathers, and decorating. You name it and Kay could do it. Aunt Kay was always expected to bring her no-bake cookies to any family gathering. Those preceding her in death were her father Willie Whitley, mother Edna Nelson, step-father Elmer Nelson, brother Robert Whitley, sister Beverly Whitley Hall, and niece Shari VanHorn. Kay will be forever remembered by her husband Roger of their home; sons Greg Joerg, Wichita and Brian (Tracy) Joerg, Blue Springs, MO; daughter Vicki Joerg, Hays; step-daughters Sandy (Russ) Henningsen, Hays and Angie (Brian) Dreher, Topeka; sisters Rita Allen, Courtland, Chris Garst, Topeka; sisters-in-law Norma (Duane) Nelson, Jamestown and Glenda (Bob) Campbell, Wichita; four grandchildren, Daniel & Jody Joerg, Brianna & Madison Joerg; step-grandchildren, Trevor & Trenton Henningsen, Ashton, Austin & Ashley Dreher; nieces & nephews, Gary (Kathleen) Barricklow, David Allen, Patty (John) Pillard, Rick (Staci) Allen, Rob (Bonnie) Whitley, Randy (Gail) Whitley, Russ Whitley, Renee (Scott) Davis, Eric Garst, Nathan (Lindsey) Garst, Debbie (Steve) Bailey, Sierra (Tyler) Keevers, Russ (Melody) Campbell, Kim (Doug) Peake. She was loved by many relatives and friends and will be missed dearly.

Funeral services were held 2:00pm Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Courtland, Kansas with Pastors Kathy Aeillo and Jim Rice officiating. Inurnment was in the Courtland Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the Kay Zimmer Memorial for later designation. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.
