Lillian Derowitsch

Lillian Marie Derowitsch was born to Oscar and Mary (Chopp) Homolac on June 9, 1917 near Munden, Kansas. She passed away on August 1, 2014 at the age of 97. Lillian’s early education was at Gleason, a one room country school, and then attended high schools in Munden and Belleville, where she worked as a nanny for room and board. She married Charley Derowitsch on July 25, 1936, and they were happily together for 62 years. The couple lived in Republic County all their lives, and called Belleville home. They had two children, Jim and Pat. She worked in the Dietary Department of the Republic County Hospital for 13 years. She and Charley belonged to the Moose Lodge, square dance and card clubs, and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Lillian was a charter member of Excelsior FCE, Star Study Club, VFW Auxiliary, Esther Circle, and UMW at the First United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by parents Oscar and Mary Homolac, brother Fred Homolac, sister Beatrice Homolac, and husband Charley Derowitsch. She will be forever remembered by her children Pat (Roger) Benyshek, Littleton, CO; Jim (Elaine) Derowitsch, Goldbar, WA; grandchildren Rogene (Joe) Patterson, Bradenton, FL; Dan (Alyssa) Benyshek, Boulder City, NV; Brent Derowitsch, St Paul, MN; Julie (Steve) Foster, Wichita, KS; Wayne Lambert, Lynnwood, WA; Nicki (Dean) Martin, Shoreline, WA; great grandchildren Derril and Stephen Jr. Foster, Wichita, KS; and Josie Quinn Benyshek, Boulder City, NV; brother Charles (Ellen) Homolac, Belleville, KS; sister Evelyn Flaska, Concordia, KS and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, Kansas with Pastor Roger Walls officiating. Burial in the Belleville City Cemetery. Memorials to the church or Belleville Public Library. Family will be greeting friends Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas is in charge of these arrangements.
