Listen to Obituary

Loren passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 92 years. He was born on July 21, 1933 in Hebron, Nebraska to Herman J. Bohling and Frieda (Hoops) Bohling. He was baptized on July 23, 1933 in Hebron. He was confirmed on March 30, 1947. His confirmation verse was Psalm 27:4. He graduated from Byron High School in 1951. On December 25, 1955, he married Arlene Poppe of Chester, Nebraska in a double wedding ceremony with his twin brother LaVern at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron. He lived the majority of his life in the Byron community, with the exception of 2 years of service in the Army at Fort McClellan in Alabama. The couple was blessed with four children: Denise and Diane (twins), Ryan, and Lisa.

Loren spent his life as a farmer, spending his days outdoors, being a steward of the land, and caring for his cattle. He will be remembered for his gentle, (yet ornery) nature, his faith, his love of family, as well as his involvement in community, as shown by his service in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron, Nebraska, the Byron School Board, and the Byron Lions Club. He loved playing pitch, and spending time visiting with family and friends. He and Arlene also spent many years square dancing as members of the SpringCreek Swingers Square Dance Club. He was always there to lend a hand when a friend or neighbor needed it.

Loren and Arlene had 4 children: Denise Schoenrock and husband Mark of Diller, Nebraska, Diane Borrell and husband Dan of Grand Island, Nebraska, Ryan Bohling of Byron, Nebraska, and Lisa McDermott and husband David of Fremont, Nebraska.

Grandchildren include: Christine Larson, Nikki (Ray) Keller, and Sarah (Josh) LeMonte all of Utah, Jeremy Borrell, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Emily (Cole) Carpenter of Omaha, Nebraska, Zachary (Nicole) Bohling, of Byron, Abigail (Robert) Cordova of Lincoln, Trenton (Brooklyn) and Samantha Bohling of Byron, Nebraska, Nebraska, as well as Brynne and Keira McDermott of Fremont, Nebraska.

Great Grandchildren include: Avery and Jaden Smith, Maia and Gideon Keller, Lewis, Arlo, and Juniper LeMonte, Robert Jr, and Shayla Cordova, Briella and Brooks Borrell, Everett Carpenter, and Lindon Bohling.

He was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife Arlene, as well as his parents, Herman J. and Frieda Bohling, and his twin brother LaVern Bohling, daughter in law, Jenelle Bohling, grandson Nathan Borrell, and great granddaughter, Sloane LeMonte.

Visitation will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Byron, Nebraska, on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Byron, Nebraska. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Byron.
