Marvin Roy Roper, son of Roy and Velda (Glenn) Roper, was born September 24, 1930 on the family farm north of Courtland, Kansas. He passed from this life Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas. He was 82 years of age. Marvin spent his early years in the Courtland area. He was inducted into the United States Army in July 1952 and served his country during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in July 1954. Marvin returned to the Courtland area and worked in construction. The family moved to Washington, Kansas in 1960 where he resided until his untimely death. He also was a heavy equipment operator at Clay Center, Kansas. After the plant closed, he went to work for the Bird's Nest Tree Farm. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Della Canfield and June Nitcher; brother Glenn Roper; and nephew Clifford Thieboult. He is survived by his nieces Lori Wessel, Renee Faber and Brenna Crandall; his nephews Jim Nitcher, Jim and Jay Crandall, Larry and Dennis Canfield; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday,
