Mary L. Chinn

Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Chinn, 76, of Belleville, Kansas, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the Belleville Health Care Center.

Mary Lou was born on August 14, 1949, to Carlin and Lorraine (Goldsmith) Hasselbring. Her father worked in bridge construction, which required the family to move often and travel throughout Kansas. Mary Lou spent her childhood living in many towns across the state alongside her two brothers and six sisters.

Throughout her life, Mary Lou worked in a variety of roles, including CNA, machinist, truck driver, and security guard. She enjoyed ceramics, bingo, thrifting, and finding treasures at garage sales. While working as a security guard, she met Doug Schissler, her companion of 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; companion, Doug Schissler; several siblings; and granddaughter, Lora Beth.

She is survived by her children, Stefine (Danny) Harbold, Stacie (Daniel) Crotts, and Michelle (Aaron) Topliff; stepchildren, Doug Schissler and Darrin (Casie) Schissler; sister, Peggy Lanam; grandchildren, Grady (Jamieson), Katie, Alex, Danny, Kallie (Hunter), Hannah, and Fayeth and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Private family burial will be held at a later date.
