Thomas Alvin Skucius “Zeites” was born on November 29th, 1950, to Alvin and Marie (Tournquist) Skucius in Belleville, Kansas. Tom started school at Tabor Country School and then proceeded his education at Cuba High School and graduated in the class of 1968. He then went on to proceed with his education at Cloud County Community and then Manhattan Vo-Tech. After college Tom enlisted in the National Guard and was stationed in Aberdeen Proving Ground Southern Harford County, Maryland.

On April 20th, 1974, Tom married Debra Mathiesen in Cuba, KS, at the Cuba Presbyterian Church and to this union two children were born: Trent and Scott. This past April Tom and Deb celebrated their 52 years of marriage.

He passed from this life on April 29, 2026, at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 75 Years and 5 months.

Tom worked at Kling Automotive, Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), Campbell and Johnson, and the United States Postal Service. Tom could often be found with dirt on his hands and a smile on his face, tending to the garden he cherished. He was also an avid fan of the Belleville High Banks where he enjoyed races year after year. Tom loved the outdoors in all its forms. Countless afternoons fishing with his family members and spending quality time with his relatives hunting all sorts of game. But of all the blessings in his life nothing compared to his grandchildren. They were the light of his world, and his greatest pride.

Tom also served as a volunteer Fire Chief for the Cuba Rural Fire Department for more than 42 years. He also gave countless hours to the city of Cuba being the Booster Club president and volunteering with numerous events/activities in the community.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Tom will be greatly missed, but forever remembered, by his wife Deb of Cuba, KS; son Trent and wife Krystle Skucius of Cuba, and Scott and wife Andrea Skucius of Wilson, Kansas. Three grandchildren; Trevin John and Kamryn Marie Skucius of Cuba, and Kinsley Mae Skucius of Wilson. Thomas will also be remembered by his brother James Skucius and his wife Sandy and their family; sister Diana Weatherhead and her husband Dana and their family; and other relatives.

Funeral services will held in June at the Cuba Presbyterian Church, date and time to be announced. Burial will be in Tabor Cemetery rural Munden, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date, and may be mailed to Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, PO Box 566, Belleville, Kansas, 66935.
