E. Victor Brown, 84, passed away on January 4, 2010 at Broadstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, NE.  Vic was born to Harry and Margaret (Marshall) Brown on January 4, 1926 on a farm near Republic, KS.  Vic attended Morehead country school and later graduated from Republic High School in the class of 1943. He married Glenna Hohman on October 23, 1949, at the Lutheran church in Scandia, KS.  To this union two children, Mark and Melanie, were born. Vic was always engaged in farming, and continued to operate the combine through December 2009.  He was a brick and cement mason, raised cattle and custom baled.  He served on the Lake Cemetery board for over 20 years. Vic was an avid sports fan and enjoyed rodeo, country music, playing Santa Claus, and following the activities of his three granddaughters. He appreciated the talent of musicians, athletes and young people of the surrounding area as well as the company of good friends and family. Vic was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Curtis and wife Vera, brother Garald and wife Nadine, and sister-in-law Vivian Brown. He will be forever remembered by Glenna, his wife of 60 years, son Mark and wife Loisann of Republic, Kansas, daughter Melanie Hansen and friend Mike Forshee of Concordia, Kansas, granddaughter Miranda Brown and fiance Adam Smith of Urbana, Illinois, granddaughters Karen Brown, and Erin Hansen. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob of Webber, Kansas, Harry and wife MaryAnn of Belleville, Kansas, and sister Marjorie and husband Dale Baxa of Republic, Kansas, and cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, January 8, 2009 at the Republic School Gymnasium in Republic, Kansas. Conducting the services were Pastors Joyce Beam and Roger Walls. Burial was in Lake Cemetery, rural Republic. Memorials may be made to the Vic Brown Memorial Scholarship.
