Louis Wayne Allen, 79, passed from this life Wednesday, July 20, 2011 with his wife Rita and family members by his side at home. He was born September 5, 1931 in Courtland, Kansas to Lester and Nettie (Heisz) Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Arletha Thurber, and a grandson Jeffery Allen. Wayne will be forever remembered by his wife of nearly 60 years Rita of their home; daughter Patty Pillard (John) of Salina; sons David Allen of Courtland and Rick Allen (Staci) of Lee's Summit, MO; brothers Garold (Betty) and Ronnie of Courtland a sister Gladys Olson (John) of Smithville, MO; grandchildren Matt & Pam Allen, daughter Maddie; Zach & Jade Allen, children Raven & Jacob; Tammy Allen & Jr. Waudby, daughter Arianna; Samantha & Elvis Smith; Alexandra Allen, children Lamont & Lakin; Marci & Brad Glessner, children Kelsi & Kara Hays, Kileigh & Brogan Glessner; Traci Pillard & Wayland Magee; Alyssa Allen; Ashley Allen & Joel Herrman; Analisa Allen; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Wayne graduated from Courtland High School with the Class of 1949. He served in the United States Army being honorably discharged in 1953. Wayne was married to Rita Whitley on February 23, 1952 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Wayne spent the majority of his adult life as a farmer in the Courtland area. He was an active member of the Courtland United Methodist Church and the Scandia American Legion. He served on the Board of Directors of Kansas Bostwick Irrigation District for over 30 years. Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Services celebrating his life were held Monday, July 25, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Courtland, Kansas with Pastor Kathy Aeillo officiating. Inurnment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery rural Courtland with military rites conducted by Scandia American Legion Post No. 193. Memorials may be made to the Church or Meadowlark Hospice. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
