Eldon D Pugh was born on October 29, 1925 at his home in Northbranch, Kansas to Ida and (Robert) Harold Pugh.

Eldon was best known for his roping skills and working with cattle all his life, as a Rancher, Roper and Cowboy. In his early years he was a Mail carrier from city to city then worked as a Sale barn manager, cattle order buying and then in a feedlot until he retired.  Eldon loved horses and eventually the sport called Team Roping where he won numerous saddles, buckles and other prizes.

He taught his children about horses and they all grew up with the love of going to horseshows and eventually rodeos or team roping’s or barrel racing events.  He furnished his children with a lot of good horses he had trained.  He also trained race horses and ran them at multiple racetracks that included the Concordia track and Thundercloud Park race track outside of Concordia, Ks.  He also had a team of bull dogging and hazing horses, “Kim and Joe” and they also served well as his daughters, Carolyn and Lynda, barrel racing horses.  He lived to see his extended family also be raised in the horse industry and with his only son that also married a barrel racer Kathy Craig.  His daughters married and their husbands also became team ropers.  His many grandchildren also loved the horses and the fun they offered and he was so proud of all they accomplished.

Eldon was a member of the Northbranch Friends Quaker church, Northbranch, Kansas.  He graduated from the Northbranch Academy in 1943.    Eldon married Carol Gleason on September 17th, 1946.

Eldon is preceded in death by his parents Ida (Mills) and Harold Pugh, Brother Norman who died at the age of two from chickenpox pneumonia.  His wife Carol (Gleason), daughter Lynda LaClef, son Bob and Great-Granddaughter Shaylynn Lee Morey (Julie).

Eldon is survived by oldest daughter Carolyn Frankamp, Baby of the family Stevie (Ron) Swiercinsky, Son-in-law Terrill LaClef (Lynda) and Daughter-in-law Kathy (Bob) Pugh.  Grandchildren, John (Kelley) Ostrom, Scott (Shelby) LaClef, Christie (Jeff) LaClef Wieckhorst, Julie Ostrom Asch, Kasey (Richard) Hanel Pugh Frost, Kelly (Matt) Hanel Pugh McCauley, Jeff LaClef, Ashley (Aaron) Swiercinsky Strait and Bailey (Daniel) Swiercinsky Garlow.  25 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great -Great Grandchildren.
