April 8, 1943 — December 5, 2021

Janet Sue Tuma (lovingly known as “Sue”), the daughter of Clem R. Bauer and Hertha L. (Hahnfeld) Bauer, was born on April 8, 1943 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.  She passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 27 days.

Sue attended Kansas City Public schools and called Kansas City her home until she moved to Belleville in 1961.  On September 8, 1963, she was united in marriage to Jimmie F. Tuma, and to this union two children, Melissa and Terry, were born.

After moving to Belleville, Sue first worked at the L&M Café, where she was working when she met Jim.  Over the years, Sue had various jobs.  She loved being a nursing aide and spent years in the healthcare industry at Republic County Hospital, Cook Chiropractic, Belleville Long Term Care, and as a home health aide.  She also owned a travel business, Travel Time II, for a short time.  In recent years, Sue worked at the Golden Bell Haven and was employed there until she could no longer work.

In 1984, Jim and Sue purchased Belleville Bowl.  For 25 years they owned and operated the bowling alley, and this experience became a very special part of their life, making many friends along the way.

Sue was an active member of American Lutheran Church, Belleville, KS and loved her church family and WELCA group.  Sue also had a love for a good cup of coffee, bowling, dirt track racing, visiting her dear Kansas City cousins, backyard fires with her neighbors, and attending events for her grandchildren.  In recent years, Sue also enjoyed her time spent with the ladies in her card club.
